Mr. R. C. Das, was born in Ichapur, near Arambag, Hooghly Dist., West Bengal (India) in 1963. He completed his schooling from Mayal K. C. Roy Institute, Mayal, Hooghly Dist. and Pre-university from Ghoshpur Union Netaji Vidyapith, Ghoshpur, Hooghly Dist. in the years 1980 and 1981. After completing his B.Sc.(Tech.) degree in Ceramic Technology from Calcutta University in the year 1985, he proceeded for post graduation study in the Dept. of Ceramic Engineering, Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University. He worked as Sr. Engineer-Laboratory in BHEL, Electroporcelains Division, Bangalore from 1986 to 1993. Then, he worked as Sr. Manager-Quality Assurance in Solarson Industries Ltd., Baroda, Gujarat from 1993 to 1999. He also worked as Sr. Manager-Production in Jayashree Insulators, Indian Rayon, Aditya Birla Group of Companies, Rishra, West Bengal from 1999 to 2000. In the year 2000, he joined this college and presently working as Associate Professor in the Department of Ceramic Technology, Govt. College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology, Kolkata.

Further, he obtained Diploma in Management from IGNOU in the year 1996, Diploma in ISO9000 & Quality Assurance in the year 1997 and Six Sigma Master Black Belt from ISI, Bangalore in the year 2008. He is also a qualified Lead Auditor for ISO 9000 QMS, ISO14001 EMS and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health & Safety Assessment and he has audied various organisations.

  • Acted as paper setter for various recruitment examinations of CGCRI (Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute).

  2. Characterisation and analysis of clays used in porcelain insulators composition, sponsored by Aditya Birla Insulators, amount 5 Lakhs, in the year 2013.
  3. Feasibility studies on introducing latest technology in making refractory bricks and allied products and low cost pollution devices for DD kiln sponsored by MSME, Durgapur, amount – 4 Lakhs in the year 2015.
  4. Technology Gap Analysis for Bangabhumi Cluster of Refractories Association, Asansol, West Bengal, sponsored by TIFAC, Govt. of India, amount-8.91L in the year 2016.
  5. Conducted Certificate Course in Refractory Technology at Aluminum Bahrain, Kingdom of Bahrain during 2017-18, amount- USD11, 272.
